Another Top Ten Finish

Tonight's race would offer cooler temps and lots of excitement. In my opinion, the Legends race was the most aggressive race of the evening. Local track competitors would mix it up with drivers from other tracks, which set the tone for lots of passing and bullying. Racing was close and side by side for many laps.

Dave would have the fastest time in the 1st practice 17.393, finished 5th in time trails and attempted to set the pace for the race by starting on the outside pole. Dave had a sluggish start off the line but quickly regained his position. Although there was some aggressive driving, Dave held his driving line throughout ¾ of the race before going to the forth position. Dave's #04 car, along with the #4 car of Jeff Hendrick and #3 car of David Polenz would enter turn one, where beating and banging resulted in Dave spinning on the track. Hendrick and Polenz in the 6th position would try to avoid the spin by going low into the grass. While going low, Polenz would hit Hendrick, all three drivers were sent to the back of the field. Dave, with only two laps to go, would work his way back up to the 10th position, where he finished the race.

The 04 Ty, Inc, Daniels Auto Care, Amsoil car would receive damage to the front and rear bumper as a result of the spin and contact from competition throughout the evening.

Congratulations to Matt Cannon for tonight's win!

The night ended with many fans visiting the pits, wanting autographs and having their photo taken with their favorite drivers. Dave especially enjoys this time as he appreciates the fans that come to the track to support the drivers and he loves talking with the kids. - HERE

RACING VIDEO STILL SHOTS

A special comment from Dave's mom- I normally tape Dave's races but was unable to do so this evening. I contacted Terry at Speedway Productions and purchased a copy of the DVD to view. I watched the tape backwards and forwards, in normal speed and in slow motion to give an accurate account of this evenings' events. For further validation, I placed photos in this article from the Old Dominion Speedway website.

Due to tonight’s incident, Dave lost 6 positions on the track and went from 8th to 9th in the points.

That’s Racing!

Tonight’s race is in the books and we are looking forward to new beginnings, starting with our next race on September 15th. We hope to see you there!
