Old Dominion Speedway 7-30-2011
Whelen All American Series

There is not much to say about this race, other than it's indicative of how this season has played out thus far. Nine (9) cars would start tonight's field.
Within the first 15 laps the field would be restarted and the caution flag would wave 3 times!

On lap one a car would go around on the back straight-a-way, this resulted in the race being restarted. On lap 3, two cars would have an incident on the front straight-a-way, bringing out the caution. On lap 4 a car would go around again on the back straight-a-way, bringing out the caution. On lap 15 the 3rd caution of the race was brought out by two cars getting into each other in turn one. Dave would spin to keep from hitting a car. His car would not refire. The carburetor flooded and all Dave needed was a push to get going. He asked the track official and tow truck driver to push him, but instead, the driver was instructed to put the car on the hook and drove him to pit road. There was obviously a miscommunication problem. Once frustration set in, our night was over.

This season has been filled with emotion. We have experienced lots of ups and downs. There has been expectations, frustration, bewilderment, and a lot of…what the heck was that all about! Nothing any typical driver doesn't experience. All in all, Dave has had a pretty good rookie season.
