Mother nature would tease us occasionally with a slight breeze, other than that, the temps were hot and sticky!

Today’s practice was an indication of what type of day it would be. The DANCO Racing #34 Ford Fusion, sponsored by Daniels Auto Care would be plagued with one problem after another. At one point, we were seriously considering calling it a day. It wasn’t until two competitors, #59 Keith Riley and #44 Mike Carte, along with Dave’s father, Mike Daniels, diagnosed the problem, which allowed us to compete in tonight’s event.

Dave would take the pole for the second time this year with a speed of 17.69
If any of you watch the show Pinks All Out that’s the way we race! We do not believe in laying back during qualifying, just to start the race on the pole. Many have questioned and view winning the pole as a disadvantage, because the field is inverted, and you start last! Dave views it as an opportunity to work the traffic, gain experience and so far this year, pass competitors clean. He comes to race, and holding back is just not his style!

As the initial green flag fell, #59 Keith Riley would lead the field for several laps before being over powered by the #00 driven by Scotty Gore. Dave, who started last would work the traffic and race two great competitors, #59 and #44, for a few laps before getting around them. Dave would attempt a challenge for the lead, but the #00 was just too far out in front. He would finish tonight’s race in the second spot and would be the new points leader for the first time this year. Dave realizes that the #11 and #00 cars are powerful and keeping the points lead will be difficult, if not impossible. But he will enjoy his reign for as long as possible, even if its just until the next race.

Former points leader, Paul Green would experience motor trouble and unfortunately would not qualify or compete in tonight’s race.

Our next race will be July 11th, ironically, which is also Dave’s 18th birthday. Stop by the pits and wish him a good one!

Hope to see you then!

Old Dominion Speedway write-up on tonight's race
After fight motor troubles for the past several weeks and spinning in practice, Scott Gore took home the win in the 30 lap Mini Modified feature. Gore was able to get through the field clean, and get an early lead as second place finisher Dave Daniels had issues with some of the slower cars. He finally made up to the second spot, but was too far back to mount any type of a serious challenge. Veteran Mike Carte came home third, while early leader Keith Riley finished fourth. With his second place finish, Daniels now assumes the point lead as Paul Green developed engine problems and was not around at the start of the event.
