Old Dominion Speedway
June 11, 2011

Mother Nature could not make up her mind for today's event. We had a mixture of sunshine, hot temps, rain and wind.

Dave practiced the car twice and qualified 8th with a 16.060

Tonight's racing would feature the dreaded twin 50's. It would be action packed with a combination of good short track racing with a touch of demolition derby. Altercations on the track in both races brought out the caution more than once. Many suspected brake checking or a slow start from upfront caused a pileup on the front straight-a-way. The #34 Daniels Auto Care machine would be involved and bounced around like a ping pong and hit hard in the back. The incident would cause the #11 to crawl overtop of the #12. While the photos are disturbing, both drivers are fine. Their cars on the other hand, that's a different story.

Dave would manage to complete both events with once again, substantial damage to the car. Aggressive driving would force him out of the grove on more than one occasion. He had his hands full in both events. He finished the first event in the 10th place, and the second event in 8th.

This season has been an eye opener. When NASCAR said, "boys have at it" I'm sure they did not mean go out and wreck the field every week. There needs to be more give and take on the track. Some drivers have one goal, they attempt to get to the front as fast as they can, and destroy everything in their path along the way! They say this is short track racing at Old Dominion Speedway, but is it racing or wrecking?

Although Dave is a seasoned driver, he is a rookie in this division, I guess those yellow stripes on the back of his car serve no purpose!

NASCAR Crashes:
I know what you are going to say that most fans tune in waiting for a wreck to happen, but that is simply not true. Although NASCAR wrecks are very exciting most fans don't want to see them we would rather watch good clean racing and hope no one gets hurt in the process. - HERE
